How To Create a Round Robin on Main Court

A Round Robin is a format where every player or team plays against every other participant in the group. Perfect for ensuring everyone gets plenty of games and fair competition across all rounds — ideal for social sessions and competitive club nights alike.

Before setting up a Round Robin, start by creating a match the normal way on Main Court. Once you're in the match creation flow, turn on the Round Robin toggle to unlock all the Round Robin-specific settings.

Step 1: Open the Match Creation Flow

From the Home screen, tap the + button. When the "Create Your Event or Post" screen appears, select Matc/hes.

Step 2: Set Up Your Match

Fill in the standard match details — date, time, number of courts, location, and skill level — just as you would for any regular match.

Step 3: Turn On the Round Robin Toggle

In the match settings, toggle on Round Robin. This reveals all the Round Robin-specific settings:

Require opposing team to confirm scores — When enabled, the opposing team must confirm the score before it counts in the standings.

DUPR Sync — Turn this on to sync match results with players' DUPR ratings. Requirements: your DUPR account must be synced with Main Court, you must have a Club created in DUPR, and you must have verified club user status. Players registering must also have a synced DUPR account. Note: DUPR match results do not affect a player's Main Court Rating.

Scoring Format — Choose how games are scored: 11 win by 1, 11 win by 2, 15 win by 1, 15 win by 2, or Custom. Note: The scoring format is for guidance only and does not determine standings calculations.

Standings Order — Drag to reorder how standings are calculated. The order you set is exactly how Main Court ranks players. Options include: Total Points, Point Differential, Win/Loss Total, and Head-to-Head.

Bonus Points for a Win — Set how many bonus points are awarded for winning a game. Default is 0. This gives winning teams extra points to help separate standings.

Court Assignment Type — Pre Set: specific courts are assigned to matches ahead of time. First Available: courts are assigned dynamically to whichever court becomes available next. Important: if court numbers are not entered during setup, Main Court cannot allocate courts when generating the schedule.

Step 4: Choose Your Gender Category

Select the gender format for your Round Robin:

Mixed — Requires an equal number of men and women players.

Open — Any combination of players, regardless of gender.

Note: The gender category you select filters who can be invited. If you select Men's, only men can be invited and confirmed as players in the invite screen.

Step 5: Choose Your Partner Format

Fixed Partner — Players keep the same partner for the entire Round Robin. You set partner pairings before the event begins in the Teams tab, and they stay together for every round.

Rotating Partner — Players rotate and play with different partners each round. Main Court automatically creates the schedule. Great for social events where everyone mixes and meets new people.

Note: Round Robins can also be run in a Singles format. If Singles is selected, the partner format step is skipped automatically.

Step 6: Invite Players

Tap Invite Players to add participants. You can invite from your Friends, Groups, or Network on Main Court.

Step 7: Tap Next

Once you've finished setting up, tap Next to finalize your match. Once your players have confirmed, head to How to Run Your Round Robin Match on Main Court to learn how to manage the event on the day.
