Opening Future Matches for Early Registration

What this feature does

For a recurring match, only the next upcoming session is open for registration by default. Every future week of that match sits hidden as Pending until its own turn comes around.

As the organizer, you can activate future weeks of a recurring match in advance, one at a time or several at once, so players can register ahead of schedule instead of waiting for each week to unlock on its own. This works at the individual match level: each future occurrence of your recurring match is activated separately.

Why it's useful

  • Players can plan ahead. Regulars who want to lock in their spot for the next several weeks don't have to remember to come back and register each week, they can grab several dates at once.
  • Less work for organizers. Open up a run of future dates and let registration happen on its own, instead of managing week to week.
  • No notification spam. Activating a match early doesn't send invites early, invites still go out automatically when the match would normally be due to send them. Activating several weeks at once won't trigger a pile of notifications the same day.
  • Fully optional and controllable. Nothing changes unless you choose to activate a future match. You can activate as many or as few weeks ahead as you want, whenever you want.

Here's how to see and activate upcoming weeks on one of your recurring matches.

Step 1 - Turn on "Show Future Recurring Matches"

From My Schedule, flip the Show Future Recurring Matches toggle at the top of the screen.

Step 2 — Open a future match marked "Pending"

With the toggle on, every upcoming week of your recurring match appears as its own card, each labeled Match Status: Pending. Tap into any one of these to open its Match Details.

"Pending" means that date isn't open for registration yet — it's not visible to players.

Step 3 — Tap Activate

On the Match Details screen, you'll see Match Status: Pending next to a green Activate button. Tap it.

Step 4 — Confirm

A confirmation prompt appears:

"This opens the match for advance registration — but invites won't be sent to players until the previous match in this sequence has completed. This can't be reverted to Pending once activated."

Tap Activate to confirm.

Two things worth knowing here:

  • This is permanent. Once a match is activated, it can't be set back to Pending — the only way to close that date is to cancel that specific match instance.
  • Invites go out on their normal schedule. Activating a match only opens it for registration early — invites still go out automatically when the match would normally be due to send them, not the moment you hit Activate.

Step 5 — Match Status flips to Active

Once confirmed, the match's status updates to Active and you'll see a "Match activated successfully" confirmation.

That date is now open for registration, same as your normal upcoming match.

Step 6 — Back on My Schedule

Turn Show Future Recurring Matches back off, and the match you just activated now shows up like any other open match on your schedule. Any other future weeks you haven't activated yet stay hidden — they're still sitting as Pending until you open them the same way.

FAQ

How many future weeks can I activate at once?

As many as you'd like — there's no limit on how far ahead you can open up.

Can I undo an activation?

No — once a match is Active it can't be reverted to Pending. If you need to close that date, cancel that specific match instance instead.

Will activating multiple weeks at once flood players with notifications?

No. Activating a match only changes whether it's open for registration. Invites still go out automatically when each match would normally be due to send them, not all at once when you hit Activate.
