How to Create a Lesson on Main Court
Overview
Main Court simplifies creating, managing, and promoting pickleball lessons for certified and insured coaches. Follow these steps to create and run successful lessons while leveraging the platform's advanced features.
Important Note: Lesson creation is only available for approved Main Court coaches. If you’re not yet approved, fill out the form on the Main Court website to apply.
Step 1: Create the Lesson
Click the + button in the middle of the bottom toolbar, then press Lessons. Choose whether to create a private or group lesson. Enter all relevant lesson details, including the title, location, date, and time.
Set your lesson to Open so that Main Court users can discover it.
Step 2: Create Additional Time Slots
Save time by using the Recurring Lesson Event feature. This duplicates the lesson’s details and adds more time slots. You can set lessons to recur daily, weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, or yearly.
Use the Custom option to set an end date for your recurring lessons for better control. Coaches often set lessons a month out to maintain flexibility.
Step 3: Invite Students
Use Main Court’s filters to invite students based on skill level. Select players from your friend's list, groups, or network. Invites are sent via app notifications and email.
Only students within that range can be invited if you set a skill level for your lesson. For broader invitations, set the skill level to “Any.”
For multiple students, you can use the Reach Out Order feature. Group 1 receives invites immediately, with subsequent groups receiving invites at hourly intervals.
Step 4: Reinvite Players
Seven days after sending initial invites, you can reinvite players or invite new ones who have recently joined Main Court. Use the View/Invite section, accessible under the Scheduled Lessons tab, to manage your invites.
Step 5: Use Email for Lesson Communication
Communicate regularly with students via email. Use this feature to provide updates, send reminders to confirmed players, and encourage them to invite others to join.
Step 6: Export Lesson Data
Use the export function to receive an Excel sheet with detailed player information. This is particularly useful for managing group lessons. You can access this option under Confirmed Students in your lesson details.
Step 7: Promote Your Lesson
Share your lesson using the Share on Social Media button. This allows you to distribute the lesson via SMS, WhatsApp, email, or other platforms.
For Instagram or Facebook, copy the lesson link and paste it into your post. To increase visibility, tag @maincourtpickleball on Instagram and @maincourt on Facebook.
Send the lesson image to the Main Court team for additional promotion or inclusion in newsletters.
Step 8: Manage Payments and Refunds
Main Court’s integrated payment system ensures secure transactions. Players pay lesson fees upfront, which include platform and Stripe fees. Refer to Refunds in Main Court help file for more information.
Refunds are automatically processed if cancellations occur more than 24 hours before the lesson start time.
Step 9: Handle Cancellations
Players and coaches can only cancel a lesson up to 24 hours before the start time. Players canceling late will not receive a refund.
Step 10: Use the Waitlist
Activate the waitlist feature for full lessons to manage overflow. Notify players promptly when spots open.
When a player is accepted from the waitlist for a paid lesson, they are notified, but their spot is not confirmed until registration and payment are processed. You should encourage quick action to secure spots.
Step 11: Create Another Lesson (If Not Set to Recurring)
If you did not set your lesson as recurring, you can manually recreate it once it concludes.
Step 12: Thank Participants and Notify Them of Upcoming Lessons
After your lesson, thank participants and let them know about upcoming lessons. Use the Past Lessons section to send follow-up emails.
Consider creating groups for your students based on skill level or location to streamline invitations for future lessons.
