How payments work on Main Court
Overview
Main Court uses Stripe to securely process payments and send funds directly to organizers or clubs.
To run paid matches, leagues, lessons, or events, a Stripe account must be connected — either yours or your club’s.
👉 Funds do not sit in Main Court’s Stripe account waiting to be paid out — they go directly to a connected Stripe account as soon as payments from players are made.
👉 Main Court only supports payments through Stripe. Payments to organizers are not supported in any other way on the platform.
⚙️ How payments work
- A player registers and pays through Main Court
- Funds are allocated to an organizer connected Stripe account (not Main Court)
- Funds are held for release in the organizers acount until:
- The cancellation window has passed
- The match or event is complete
- Funds can then be transferred to a bank account
👉 Main Court manages the full payment flow
🔒 Refunds (Fully Automated)
- Refunds are handled automatically by Main Court
- If a player cancels within the allowed window:
- The refund is issued automatically
- Funds are deducted from the connected Stripe account balance
👉 No manual action is required
💰 When do I get paid?
Funds can be withdrawn after:
- The match or event is complete
- The cancellation window has passed
👉 This ensures funds are always available for refunds
🏦 Do I need a Stripe account?
A Stripe account is required only if payments are being sent to you directly.
🏢 Clubs & Court Organizers
If you organize on behalf of a club or court, you have two options:
Option 1 — Get paid directly
- Connect your own Stripe account
- Funds go directly to your account
Option 2 — Route payments to the club
- You do not need a Stripe account
- Payments are routed to the club’s Stripe account
👉 Main Court links your user profile to the club’s Stripe account
⚙️ How to set this up
To route payments to a club:
👉 Ask the club to email info@maincourt.com to request this setup
Once enabled, you can:
- Link your events to the club’s Stripe account
- Or connect your own Stripe account if needed
⚠️ Important
- If payments go to your bank account → you must connect Stripe
- If payments go to the club → the club must have Stripe connected
🔐 Why Stripe is required
Main Court uses a standard payment structure to:
- Ensure funds go directly to the correct account
- Improve security and reliability
- Support growth across more clubs, events, and organizers
🏦 Payment method update
Bank account and routing number payments are not supported in Main Court.
👉 Stripe is required for all payouts
⚠️ Important payout rules
- Funds appear in the connected Stripe account after players pay
- Funds cannot be transferred to a bank account until:
- The cancellation window has passed
- The match or event is complete
👉 This protects both organizers and players
🔁 Recurring matches
If you have recurring matches scheduled after April 1:
👉 Recreate them after connecting Stripe or linking to a club account
❗ What has changed?
- Funds go directly to a connected Stripe account (yours or your club’s)
- Main Court does not hold funds on your behalf
- Payments are only supported through Stripe
👉 Everything else stays the same
🧠 Bottom line
Nothing changes in how you run your matches or events.
Main Court:
- Handles payments
- Manages refunds
- Runs the full payment experience
👉 The only change is where the money sits
