How does the waitlist feature work on Main Court
The waitlist feature on Main Court allows players to join a queue for a match or event that is currently full or set to open. If a spot becomes available, the event organizer is notified of the cancellation and can immediately fill the open spot by selecting a player from the waitlist. Alternatively, players on the waitlist may see the open spot and claim it. To secure their place, players must promptly register and pay, as open spots are either filled by the organizer or offered on a first-come, first-serve basis.
For example, if you create a singles match for two players and are participating yourself, you may invite two others to join. If one invitee accepts and confirms their spot, all available slots for the match are filled. Even though the match is full, other players still have a chance to participate by joining the waitlist.
If they accept the invitation after all slots are taken, they will automatically be added to the waitlist. Players can also request to join the waitlist independently if the match is marked as "open."
Once a waitlist is established, the match organizer receives a notification and has the ability to manage the roster. The organizer can remove a confirmed player to make room for someone on the waitlist or fill a spot from the waitlist if a confirmed player cancels their participation. The waitlist is shown in order of who joined first although the organizer can accept anyone from the list. This flexibility ensures that matches remain dynamic and inclusive, providing additional opportunities for players to engage.
The waitlist is an effective tool for managing full matches and events, ensuring that every player has a fair chance to participate. Below are the notifications received on both the organizer and players side.
Notifications Received:
Organizers will receive push notification and an email when a player accepts the invitation, cancels their spot, or joins the waitlist.
Players will receive push notifications and an email when an organizer invites them to a match or event, if they are successfully on the waitlist, or if they are approved and accepted from the waitlist and therefore their spot is confirmed.
