Step 1: Invite Your Friends to Download the Main Court App

The easiest way to build your pickleball network is to get your friends on Main Court. Here’s how to invite them:

Go to the Friends area. Tap the Invite Friends button to share the app.

Simply send this link via SMS, WhatsApp, or email to invite them to download the app and join your matches!

Step 2: Add Friends to Your Network

Once your friends have downloaded the app, you can connect with them to make match setups more seamless.

How to Add a Friend:

Access the Search Section Open the app and tap the Search icon at the bottom of the screen. Find the Player Tap Network and type the player’s name in the search bar. Send a Friend Invitation Tap the Add as Friend icon next to their name, or Open their profile and tap Add as Friend directly. Wait for Acceptance The player will receive a push notification about your request. Once they accept, you’re instantly connected as friends!

Step 3: How to Set Up Groups

Why Use Groups on Main Court

Groups make organizing matches, leagues, and social play easier. Instead of hunting for players one-by-one for every match, you can save time by inviting from a group that already fits the skill level, location, or vibe you’re running.

Whether it’s a weekly run of doubles matches or a seasonal league, groups are a fast way to plan and fill courts with the right people.

How to Create a Group

  1. Access Groups
    • Tap the Search icon at the bottom of the screen.
    • Select Groups, then tap Create a New Group in the top right.

      Customize Your Group

    • Add a photo and group name.
    • Optionally, you can choose a home club.
    • Set a skill level so players understand the standard of play. If you select a skill level, the player list you see when inviting will default to only show players within that range. Players outside that range won’t appear automatically. You can update the skill filter at any time if you want to find players outside the selected range.

Group Visibility Types

Main Court has two group types that are not publicly listed on the network: Roster Groups and Private Groups. They work very differently, so choose based on what you’re trying to manage.

Roster Group

This is a behind-the-scenes management tool for organizers.

  • Not visible anywhere on the app to players
  • Players do not receive notifications when they are added or removed
  • Organizer can add or remove players at any time
  • Players MUST already be friends with the organizer in order to be added
  • Members cannot request to join

Best for:

  • League rosters
  • Captains managing weekly lineups
  • Keeping a pool of players you invite regularly
  • Quietly removing flaky humans without drama

This group is entirely for the organizer’s convenience. Players don’t interact with it, and they likely don’t even know it exists.

Private Group

This is a true invite-only group for players.

  • Not visible on the network, so players can’t search for it
  • Organizer invites players from the network to join
  • Players can see the group, its members, and participate
  • Membership is managed openly (not silently)

Best for:

  • Friend groups
  • Same players each week
  • Social circles that want a shared space
  • Organizers who want ongoing communication

This type is still private, but it functions like a normal group community, just restricted to invited members.

Add a Group Description

Please write a short description that explains what the group is and who it’s meant for. It helps players understand the vibe before joining (if they get an invite).

Summary

  • Roster Group: an invisible, silent admin tool for managing who you invite. No requests, no notifications, no drama.
  • Private Group: invite-only social space visible to group members. There is no public discovery, but players can participate once invited.

How to Invite Players to Your Group. Within your group, scroll down to Invite Members and press the Invite Members button. Use the Search function to find players by name. Select the checkbox next to the player’s name and tap Invite. Players will receive a push notification and can find group invites under Notifications > Invites.

Step 4: Sending Invites to Players

In the Invite area, you can search for individual players, select them, and then switch to searching for a group or network without losing your previous selections. You can also use the filter in the top-right corner to filter players by specific criteria such as skill level or location.

As you tick players or groups, your selections will hold and remain saved until you hit Next, allowing you to build your Invite List seamlessly across different categories of Friends, Groups, and the Network. This flexibility ensures you can easily compile the ideal list of participants for your match. Once finalized, click Next to send the invites.

The final screen shows all the players and groups you selected to send invites. You can use the Reach Out Order (see Reach Out Order Video for more info on how to use it) to send invites to players at different times and then hit Send Invites to send the invites.

Players will receive invites via push notifications and email when you hit Send. Invited players can accept or decline your invites; organizers will be notified when spots are filled. Organizers and players can see confirmed participants anytime in the Scheduled Match section.

Step 5: Notifications and Invites

Types of Notifications and Invites

Invites are used to invite players to matches, events, or tournaments. They are delivered in three ways:

Push Notification: Real-time alerts are sent to your device’s home screen or notification center, even when the app is closed. In-App Notification: Invites appear in the Notification (bell) section of Main Court. Email: Invites are also sent to the email address associated with the player’s Main Court account.

Players can view, accept, or decline invites directly from the notification, within the app, or through email.

How to Ensure Notifications Are Enabled

For iPhone: Open your iPhone’s Settings. Scroll down and select Main Court from the list of apps. Tap Notifications and ensure that Allow Notifications is toggled ON. Under Alert Style, select Persistent to keep notifications visible until you dismiss them. Toggle Sounds and Badges ON for additional visibility.

For Android: Open your phone’s Settings. Go to Apps or App Management (varies by device). Find and select Main Court from the list of apps. Tap Notifications and ensure they are set to ON. Choose Always Allow Notifications to ensure alerts appear even when the app is closed. Select Persistent Notifications under the notification settings (if available on your device) for enhanced visibility.

Recommendation

For the best experience, enable both Push Notifications and Invites in your settings. Persistent notifications are highly recommended to ensure you receive all important updates and invites.
